Marit Geraldine Bostad

Pintura

Atreverme a buscar contrastes y significados interesantes.

The artist Marit Geraldine Bostad (1976) works and lives in Horten in Vestfold County, Norway. Her studio is at an old naval base, where she finds most of her workinspiration in the middle of great nature and historical buildings.

Marit Geraldine is originally an Art Director, with 10 years of visual projects within film, illustration and consept building in Oslo.

Besides the commercial work she has always been painting – taking part in small scale art projects. In 2010 she left the art direction field for good. A change she has never regretted.

”To work with my hands and feel the material is essential to me. I got lost in my computer, the real world became distant, cold. I simply had to get rid of all the filters and shortcommands, and so I did”.

”When I paint I go into another place. Not by trying, just by being. Interaction with my tools, my colours, the white canvas that is beeing covered, layers by layers. More and more hidden. When I am in that state – finding a connection with the artwork, piece by piece – I have learned by experience, that someone else also will connect to it. Some might not see the painting, but others can´t forget the meeting.

My job is to search for, to know when I am reaching that point. And it demands from me that I am true to myself, dare to be open minded. Dare to search for interresting contrasts and meanings. Dare to believe in my instincts. The Abstract is what is left when you peel of the unnecessary belongings. What happens next, is truly fascinating. So many unique pair of eyes. So many stories. The artist is almost forgotten, and that is to me a true meeting.
